How much of your own money you put in, how much you took back, and what’s still inside — one story, for years to come.
“Deposit” records how much of your own money you put in and at what rate. “Withdraw” — how much you took back. For years.
Long term, mid term, a portfolio for your kid — each with its own buys and average price.
While money sits in a portfolio, gains are on paper. It becomes yours once you take it out — to cash or by paying with crypto.
The transaction calendar keeps what you bought, at what price, and why — a month from now and five years from now.

Crypto Journal is a web app for tracking your personal money in crypto. You record a Deposit (how much of your own money you put in, in which currency and at what rate), buys, sells and a Withdraw (how much you took back). The journal shows how much you deposited, how much you withdrew and what the rest is worth in your portfolios right now — in dollars or in your own currency.
How the journal works: all terms →| Typical tracker | Crypto Journal | |
|---|---|---|
| Main number | Portfolio value in dollars | How much of your own money you put in and took back |
| Selling into USDT | Counted as profit right away | Stays in the portfolio until you record a Withdraw |
| Currency | Mostly dollars | Dollars, euros, lira, rubles and more |
| Strategies | One shared portfolio | Separate portfolios; moving money between them isn’t investing |
| Exchange keys | Often required | Never stored: CSV and public addresses |
| Decision history | Trades only | Date, price and reason for every operation |
“Deposit” is your money entering crypto: the amount in your currency, the coin, the quantity and the rate on that date. “Withdraw” is money coming back to you: to cash or by paying with crypto. Portfolios are strategies where you buy and sell coins.
After a sale, the stablecoins stay in the portfolio. The amount counts as “taken out” only once you record a Withdraw.
